CONCEPT

For my final project I decided to make a bed for my roommate's two cats, Skimbleshanks and Bombalurina. Rather than make a bed similar to all of the other ones they have, I decided I wanted mine to hang from the wall, and be assembled with a series of knots. In order to start this process, I researched photos of various designs in order to get inspiration for what I wanted my project to look like.

OVERALL CONCEPT

This is an example of one of the photos used to inspire the final product. When looking at this bed, as well as similar ones, I noticed that multiple types of knots would need to be used to create the project.

ROPE

After doing more research, I noticed that most macrame projects are done with twisted cotton rope. Because of this, as well as its softness, I decided that this rope would be the best for the project.

KNOTS

While doing research on knots, I learned what types were most commonly used in macrame projects. This lead me down a path of finding specific designs to follow in order to make the cat bed.
